Civil War?

A story in the Philadelphia Inquirer today cites concerns "broadly held within the US Government" and by the CIA, that Iraq could become embroiled in a civil war. Channel News Asia reports that three straight days of demonstrations by the Shiites has "struck fear in the hearts of the Kurds and Sunni populations". Considering the sheer volume of weapons freely available in Iraq it seems that such fears are well founded.

Meanwhile, the worlds "elite" are meeting at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Former President Clinton, who doesn't seem to realize that he should just retire somewhere and keep his big mouth shut, is a featured speaker.

Considering how biased the news media has been up to now, I think I want some corroboration from someone outside of the regular news media.

If we have someone like Chief Wiggles talking about Civil War, then I think we have a problem. Until then, I will consider it to be the usual media hype aimed at putting the US occupying forces in as bad a light as possible. Because we all know who gets the blame if there IS a Civil War and it's certainly NOT going to be the Iraqis.

Teresa, You're right about that. Tonight when I got home from work I caught part of NBC News. Their second story was about the "risk" of civil war. As soon as I heard that it really made me wonder. I guess ultimately only time will tell.

I am shocked at tone of JD's words regarding former President Clinton ... am I the only one who finds this disrespectful regardless of one's feelings toward Clinton or any other human?!

Thanks for your comments and thanks for visiting my blog. As far as President Clinton is concerned, the words that many democrats, including former Presidents, have had for Pres Bush pale by comparison.
President Clinton consistently placed his own interests over those of the country while he was President and continues to do so. I have very little respect for him. If you think that's disrespectful you should see what I'd like to write about him - but won't - because I do think I should maintain at least some minimal level of respect for the position he held.
-Jim.
