Hey, this Goldberg guy is pretty good. Think he'll last?
Posted by jdmays at June 18, 2004 01:43 AM | TrackBackI have to admit that Mr. Jonah Goldberg writes well, but he is just more of the same ol' right-wing blah-blah-blah to those of us looking for something more balanced.
He makes a good point about the Geneva Convention pact but fails to mention that U.S. intelligence themselves told the Red Cross inspectors that nearly 90 percent of those being held at the "torture" prison were innocent of any wrongdoing.
Plus, are we Americans not supposed to be above the behavior of terrorist groups? I am not sure that raping Iraqi women and standing by mute while Iraqi boys are raped can ever be justified ... at least not by this American writer (me).
Absolutely, the Berg beheading was atrocious. But is it any more appalling than the three dozen Iraqi deaths that took place in the "torture prison" while it was under U.S. control? I am just glad some people kept enough pressure on the government to start investigating these deaths.
