Some people seem to think that Allah is the same deity as God, but if you do research into Muslim beliefs you have to conclude that it is a different god and definitely not the same God as Christians pray to.

I'm sorry, I must disagree. The God of Christians and Jews, when in need of a descriptor, is called the "God of Abraham", which is an immediately understandable concept. Allah is the "God of Ibrahim". Same thing, but I still don't know why they have to put their butts in the air to pray.

I've treated this subject at length in two posts here. The answer to your question depends on the context. If you're talking about whether Muslims' terms refer to God, the answer is yes. If you're talking about whether their worship is genuine worship of God accepted as such, the answer is no. 'Allah' is the Arabic word for God. Arab Christians use it. In the mouth of a Muslim, it's got all sorts of false assumptions to it, and many people (wrongly) believe that such false assumptions mean the term fails to refer, but many of our terms involve wrong assumptions. Did people fail to refer to the sun when they believed it to be a satellite of the earth? Did people fail to refer to heat when they believed it to be a substance?
